MORE THAN 50 YEARS OF A RICH HISTORY<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n

Owl\u2019s Head Mountain is steeped in history and has been a cherished landmark for residents of the Eastern Townships for centuries.
\nAbout 50 years ago, a young couple living in the area decided to jump into an adventure, opening the ski hill that has become the resort we know today. Legions of area folks learned to ski here and passed along their passion to children and grandchildren. Destination Owl\u2019s Head took up the torch in 2018 and now plans to enhance the resort while showcasing its unique character.<\/p>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"historique","historique_texte_1":"Fred Korman opened Ski Owl\u2019s Head for business. With his wife Lillian and their daughter Caroll, Mr. Korman ran the ski hill\u2019s debut season with two double chairlifts and one tow bar. Back then, visitors had the choice of six trails designed by Olympic skier Bob Richardson. What had started as a hobby business for the Mansonville electrician quickly turned into a four-season destination. Thanks to the vision of Fred and Liliian Korman, the centre continued to grow, year after year, along with development of the land and improvements to facilities and equipment.","historique_texte_2":"The Owl\u2019s Head Ski School was founded by Bob Richardson, Canadian Olympic champion.","historique_texte_3":"This season proved to be difficult due to very light snowfall. Many people believe the name \u201cOwl\u2019s Head\u201d comes from the outline of the mountain summit, which they say resembles an owl\u2019s head.However, this unusual name originates from an Indigenous people who once inhabited the region and were hunters and fishers. When their chief, whose name was OWL, died, they decided to commemorate his life to ensure that his spirit would live on forever; and so they named the mountain Owl\u2019s Head.
