Behind the lush landscapes and summer hikes, a devoted team works tirelessly to prepare every detail for the coming winter. From the summit to the slopes, from the chairlifts to the groomers, nothing is left to chance. And once again this year, significant investments have been made to elevate the skier experience to an entirely new level.<\/p>\n
As soon as a chairlift closes at the end of the season, the teams begin its maintenance. The chairs are removed from the cables and carefully inspected, along with the towers and cables, to ensure a safe reopening. Every component is rigorously checked in full compliance with the standards governing lift operations.<\/p>\n
On the slopes, mowing more than 125 acres is another major task of the summer and fall. This work, often invisible to visitors, is nevertheless essential. By cutting the grass close to the ground, the trails can open more quickly, requiring less snow to ensure consistent coverage. The result: higher-quality skiing from the very first weeks of the season, much to the delight of skiers eager to return to the mountain.<\/p>\n

Beyond routine maintenance, the summer of 2025 was also marked by significant investments. More than $600,000 was dedicated to the snowmaking system: replacing air and water pipes, upgrading hydrants, and adding new snow guns strategically placed across the mountain. These improvements will allow snow to be produced more quickly, respond more effectively to temperature variations, and reduce resource consumption\u2014a gain in performance, efficiency, and sustainability.<\/p>\n
In addition, a brand-new groomer valued at over half a million dollars was acquired, equipped with biodegradable oil. On top of that, a new groomer fleet management software has been integrated, enabling piste grooming to be optimized while minimizing the ecological footprint.<\/p>\n
These investments reflect a clear commitment: to offer skiers a superior experience where performance and sustainability go hand in hand.<\/p>\n

Of course, these projects would not carry their full meaning without the human commitment behind every action. All operational teams are currently in a period of high activity to ensure everything is ready for opening day. Patrollers are completing their training and recertifications to maintain their skills and first aid standards, mechanics are ensuring the reliability of the lifts, and our specialized vehicle mechanic (groomers, ATVs, etc.) is making sure the fleet is ready for the upcoming season.<\/p>\n
At the same time, the recruitment and training of seasonal staff are in full swing. Whether it\u2019s lift attendants, snowmaking crews, or patrollers, each person contributes to creating the warm and professional atmosphere that Owl\u2019s Head is known for. Because beyond the equipment and infrastructure, it\u2019s the people who truly make the difference in the visitor experience.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no downtime for these teams: the efficiency and quality of the snow are the result of thoughtful, organized work carried out months in advance. Their goal is clear\u2014to provide an optimal white carpet from opening day, and then maintain consistent, lasting coverage throughout the winter.<\/p>\n
