YOUR ROLE IS IMPORTANT
As Assistant Superintendent, you play a key role in maintaining the quality and performance of the course.
Working on the course and involved in day-to-day operations, you support the Superintendent in planning, coordinating, and supervising golf course maintenance work.
Through your expertise, leadership, and attention to detail, you help provide exceptional playing conditions while ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and course presentation are met.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSABILITIES
- Oversee and actively participate in the maintenance of the golf course and its surrounding areas (parking lots, access roads, gardens, greens, etc.).
- Actively contribute to the management of on-course staff, including hiring, training, supervision, and scheduling.
- Train staff on the use of machinery and equipment, with an emphasis on safety measures.
- Collaborate with the mechanic to ensure the proper operation and maintenance of course equipment.
- Provide recommendations to the Superintendent regarding the condition of the course and infrastructure.
- Manage fertilizers and pesticides in accordance with current standards and apply pesticides and fertilizers conscientiously.
- Enforce and ensure compliance with existing health and safety policies.
- Take charge of the day-to-day management of the grounds in the Superintendent’s absence.
PROFILE / REQUIRED SKILLS
- Experience as an assistant superintendent (preferred).
- At least two years of study in turf management or a related field or currently pursuing a degree;
- Valid Quebec pesticide certificate (or to be obtained within 3 months of hire).
- Good knowledge of the principles of mechanics, carpentry, and electricity.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and natural leadership.
- Resourcefulness, thoroughness, and attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively organize and manage priorities.
- Ability to work efficiently and physically for long hours as needed.
- Good knowledge of the operation and maintenance (repair) of irrigation systems.
