Assistant Superintendent

Owl’s Head Golf Club is surrounded by nature and located at the foot of the western slope of Mount Owl’s Head. The course designed by internationally renowned architect Graham Cooke offers exceptional views and provides golfers of all skill levels an unforgettable experience. The field stone pavilion with BC pine beams is simply magnificent and provides a warm atmosphere for guests.

Since 2018, the golf club is a part of Destination Owl’s Head and has benefited from major investments that have resulted in an increase in clients and membership. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to work year-round by combining employment with the Owl’s Head ski resort.

MAIN TASKS

  • Assist in the management of the maintenance of the golf course, including the adjacent property;
  • Assist in the management of on course workers, including hiring assistance, training, security, employee supervision and schedules;
  • Make recommendations to the Superintendent on the daily condition of the golf course;
  • Practice and apply all aspects of Destination Owl’s Head maintenance and health and safety policy;
  • Assume the role of the manager if he is outside or in a meeting;
  • Assist in the training of personnel on machines, including safety procedures;
  • Maintain buildings, equipment, and property in a professional manner;
  • Contribute regularly and accurately to the superintendent’s fertilizer management practices.

 

REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience of work in a golf club (asset);
  • Experience as an Assistant Superintendent (asset);
  • Minimum of 2 years of formal education, or a university degree or college diploma in lawn management or is in the process of obtaining it;
  • Experience in calibrating and applying fertilizer and pesticides;
  • Have a valid Quebec pesticide license or obtain one within 3 months;
  • Flexibility, professionalism, and great attention to detail;
  • Autonomous, great sense of organization and good management of priorities;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Bilingualism both oral and written.

Building maintenance attendant

Seasonal – Full time – Part time – On call

The building maintenance worker is responsible for maintaining the interior of the main ski chalet in order to maintain an outstanding customer experience. Without limitation, the attendant will be called upon to:

MAIN TASKS

  • Clean washrooms, eating areas, locker rooms and all other functional rooms in the building;
  • Ensures the supply of sanitary facilities (hand paper, soap, etc.);

Ski Patrol Leader, health and safety prevention

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Patrol Leader’s job is to supervise the team of patrollers on the ski area and to oversee the prevention of health and safety on the premises. Without being limited to it, the duties of the Patrol Leader are to:

MAIN TASKS

PATROL SECTION
  • Develop the display and signage strategy on the mountain by establishing different scenarios;
  • Develop and implement clear signage procedures for each track/sector on the mountain;
  • Participate in the development of the annual and daily opening plan in collaboration with the Director of Operations and the Mountain Supervisor;
  • Follow the daily opening plan and follow up with the team to ensure good preparation and safety on the mountain;
  • Perform the daily final validation of the condition of the leads and communicate the final opening plan to the teams concerned (marketing department, etc.);
  • Manage the patroller team in place (schedule management, disciplinary management, etc.);
  • Actively participate in the hiring of patrollers;
  • Ensure follow-up training for patrollers during the preseason, so that all have mandatory qualifications required;
  • Create and implement a close collaboration with the Canadian Ski Patrol in order to create a common responsibility during the mountain patrol and to define the responsibilities of each;
  • Ensure the smooth running of the activities of the patrol paid and our volunteer patrol with the Canadian Ski Patrol;

PREVENTION AND SECURITY SECTION
  • Monitor, inform, train people in DOH territory in relation to health and safety standards and requirements in workplaces and sites and report anomalies to the managers concerned and keep a register of events;
  • Patrol, summer and winter, on our trails, on the mountain or any other place on DOH territory, depending on the number of visitors and during events;
  • Ensure the necessary security signage on DOH territory;
  • Ensure the good circulation of customers during construction on the territory of DOH;
  • Be responsible and keep a register of the location, content, proper functioning and expiration dates of items related to health and safety on DOH territory (first aid kits, defibrillator, backboard, etc.);
  • Act as a first aid worker in the workplace;
  • Ensure that the quota for first aid in the workplace is regulatory and ensure employee training, if necessary;
  • Investigate incidents/accidents at work, document the causes, issue solutions to correct a problematic situation and submit a report to the managers concerned;
  • Inspect and analyze the environment of workers in the territory of DOH;
  • Promote preventive measures to minimize work accidents on DOH territory;
  • Actively participate, in collaboration with the director of operations and the human resources department, in the development and maintenance of the security program;
  • All other related tasks.
