DISCOVER OWL’S HEAD FOR THE FIRST TIME

It is often said that our mountain is the best-kept secret in the Eastern Townships. That’s primarily because once people discover it, they want to keep it all to themselves. Every day offers a different quality of light. Every run toward the lake below is a fresh dose of pleasure. You’re at Owl’s Head, the get-away-from-it-all spot closest to home

NEW SKIER

New to skiing and not sure how your first day will unfold? Don’t worry, you won’t be left to your own devices! Through this page, Owl’s Head is there to guide you.

Winter’s top sports – alpine skiing, snowboarding and alpine touring – are all three physical and psychological in nature. Along with being excellent muscular and cardiovascular workouts, they also confer all of the sensations and mental benefits of outdoor activity.

To make the most of it from the first time, here are some useful tips, some tips for dressing comfortably to hit the trails or the paths, where to find the right equipment for your level, how to prepare well and where to start.

You can also learn more about our different services by clicking on the word: catering service, accommodation service. Our main chalet, our resto-bar and our hotel bear the name of MTN Haus.

In addition, do not hesitate to browse our site to discover even more information.

The right apparel

For clothing, choose several layers to adapt to changing weather conditions and prefer warm, waterproof, breathable clothing that allows you to be comfortable.

Do not forget to protect your extremities well: nose, ears, fingers, and even toes with good thick socks made of synthetic fibres.

Bring more than necessary.

It is possible to change warm inside the MTN Haus chalet and leave your bags in the boxes in the locker room on the customer service floor.

Choosing the right equipment

Your choice of equipment will be essential. There is a mind-boggling array of skis and snowboards out there; you must choose length and model based on your height, physical aptitudes, skill level and snow sport style you’re interested in.

Visit the Wax shop directly at the MTN Haus chalet to buy the right equipment and receive expert advice from the Wax team

You can also rent your equipment via our rental center, our professionals on-site will be able to offer you the equipment that suits you.

Access the online store to reserve your rental equipment

Warming up is crucial

Skiing, snowboarding and alpine touring are quite demanding sports. A word of advice: warm up your muscles before attacking your first trail or path and test your movements. Our friends at maneige.ski devote a whole section to this subject.

Consult the ski preparation page on maneige.ski

In addition, there are different difficulty levels. Take the time to familiarize yourself with the trails marked Beginner first. There are more than 15 at your disposal in the family zone!

The reloadable ECHO card and ski tickets

The ECHO card is the RFID chip card on which you can load daily tickets purchased on our online store. Ticket purchase is only possible online, no tickets are sold on-site. You must access our online store, register and log in to your account, then you can buy the desired tickets.

Keep your rechargeable ECHO card. When you make a new purchase through your account on our online store, your ticket will be automatically associated with your card. You will thus be able to directly access the lifts during your next visits.

We also have the NINOXE card, this is the RFID chip card on which you can load all the limited and unlimited season passes purchased on our online store. Rechargeable, non-redeemable and non-transferable, the two cards give you access to various mountain activities.

Why not take a lesson?

Alpine skiing and snowboarding are both technical sports, and as such we recommend taking a class with experienced instructors who will teach you basic techniques and appropriate learning tips. Investing in a skiing or boarding lesson is a smart choice for the first-timer who wants to enjoy the experience. You’ll start off with good foundations and improve more quickly.
